Whether you are going on a camping trip with your friends or with your family, camping with your car isn’t all set to go without the essential car camping checklist. Before going on a camp, you must make a checklist to ensure that nothing that is necessary is left behind leading to frustrating or a helpless situation. It is important to pack the right material as per you and your family needs. Some of the essentials in the main gear for car camping include many things that you often take for granted. Here’s what you shouldn’t be missing.
It is obviously the most important item for any camping trip. Before packing you must understand its proper way of assembling and check if it is not damaged and whether it has the capacity to accommodate all the campers. Ensure that you have all the poles and stakes required.
Some tents come with inbuilt floor cover but it is safe to carry an additional cover to either safeguard the tent floor or to replace the damaged tent.
Sleeping bags should be enough for each camper and chose them according to the weather conditions of the camping destination. This will facilitate a comfortable sleep.
This prevents you and your food from the wild animals when you are sleeping. It can also be used as a clothes line or you can make your own quick hammock if you have enough.
This is very important to carry along with you as it comes in handy to patch up torn tents and to reseal your food. A layer of duct tape over a bandage will hold it much better if at all you have any bruises or cuts in the outdoors.
Many campgrounds sell this on site, but it is economical and safe to carry your own. Apart from keeping you warm it also helps in quickly heating any food.
This is helpful in making kindling, planting tents and splitting large firewood pieces.
This latest technology serves as a map and tells you the directions to move on if at all you have missed your campsite.
Stove and fuel
They are useful for cooking. Remember to check properly before leaving and carry enough fuel for the stove so that you don’t lack it for cooking.
Matches or lighter
They are required to start the stove or campfire and it is best to carry those that are waterproof and weather proof.
You must pack lots of food with you as it is easier to get back leftover food items home than running out of food in emergency which can frustrate you a lot. It is always better to carry some extra canned food as it always comes in handy during emergencies. But make sure to check the expiry.
Portable freezers and ice makers
They are an excellent way to store food and to make ice quickly during the journey and you can also use them as a seat for your kids during fun times at the campsite.
This is not really very necessary but is helpful as it gives you a clean place for eating and cooking and helps in keeping the place clean.
Carry disposable paper plates, spoons, tissue papers, water bottles and other tools like knife, spatula or whisk so that you don’t have to worry about bringing them back home or about cleaning them every time you sit for a meal at the campsite.
Carry enough trash bags or cans with you if you are a camper with some responsibility towards the nature. They are very helpful for collecting all the trash during the trip and in keeping the surroundings clean for the next visitors.
First aid kit
It is important to carry this and make sure that it has all the basic medicines and ointments. It is too better to carry a prepackaged first aid kit as it has most of the items that are typically needed by campers.
This serves as a back up to your water. While mini portable water filtration systems are a good option to considered, water purification tablets shouldn’t be neglected either. Boiling the water is another thing not to miss anywhere.
Pack enough clothes as per the weather conditions and make sure to pack something extra for changed conditions of day and night.
The list includes sunglasses, hat, rain pants, hiking shoes, warm clothes, towels, wind breaker and extra under garments among others.
Again, while the list can be endless, binoculars, camera, handy cam, cards and books should not be overlooked.
