The Buchanan County Extension and the County Conservation Board are extending overnight opportunities for the youth who are entering sixth through the eight grades. The Outdoors Adventures Program (OAP) provides the youth with valuable opportunities so that they can learn the outdoor skills and also experience the outdoors.
This includes camping out in the Fontana Park on the 25th and the 26th of July and backpacking at the Yellow River Forest on the 8th and 9th of August.
The registration process for each event is different while backpacking shall be available to those that have participated in the camping event. The information for registration shall be available at firstname.lastname@example.org and 636-2617.
The naturalists have sponsored Extreme Outdoors with the counties of Benton, Bremer, Buchanan, and Chickasaw. It offers a series of recreational activities outdoors. The Zip Line tour shall be held on August 1, from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm. Limited transportation shall be available from the Fontana Park.
