Camping at Green Mountain Reservoir will be costlier from this summer. The campers have to pay a higher fee to spend a night at the place.
The Dillon Ranger has changed fee from $5 to $13 per vehicle per night for camping allowing two vehicles at the site.
Ken Waugh, Recreation Staff Officer at Dillon Ranger District stated that the new fees are comparable with those charged at Dillon Reservoir and the Arapahoe National Recreation Area at Grand Lake.
Campers with more than two vehicles will be charged with $5 for each additional vehicle.
A season pass for $65 is offered as usual for unlimited access to all campgrounds up to 14 days stay.
The district stated that the charges are increased to cover the cost of operating and upgrading facilities as the old fee could not do.
New tables and toilets have been installed at Elliot Creek and Prairie Point campgrounds recently and 12 new campsites added to the campground at Cow Creek South with the funds from American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
Around 20000 visitors visit the place between May and October every year.
