The Google Street View will soon show the volcanoes, beaches, and rainforests of Hawaii.
Google Inc. was lending the backpack cameras to one of the Hawaiian trail guide companies for capturing the panoramic images of the hiking trails on the Island.
When visiting Hawaii you should stay in one of the Kauai vacation rentals you can view them on Google Maps as well.
Google Maps as well as the official website of the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau shall have the photos. The project manager of Street View, Evan Rapoport, stated that the “most magical” sites of Hawaii are to be explored “on foot”.
The places that are mostly preferred by the travelers, such as the Grand Canyon, have already been captured. And this is obviously the first time for Silicon Valley Company to have handed over the “Street View Trekker” to a different party.
Other organizations that are willing to participate would also be offered the technology by Google, Rapoport said. The group using this device would include universities, government agencies, tourism boards, and other non-profit organizations.
According to plans, Hawaii Forests and Trails guide will use the trekker device to capture images of over twenty national and state park trails by end-September, on the Islands.
The images shall be sent to Google by Hawaii Forests and Trail guides. A 360 degree panoramic view of the places can be enjoyed as photos from fifteen cameras contained in the trekker shall be stitched.
