Resorts Welcome Families with Newest Attractions

B.C. Mountain Resorts has been adding fun and fitness activities to its alpine and skiing to engage all the family members. The operators at the resorts are out to offer ski-in and ski-out pin bowling this weekend of February.

Pinheads are the new attractions at Silver Star Mountain Resort at Vernon. Celebrity TV contractor Duncan Miller, known as Australia’s Mike Holmes has turned the vacant retail place into four fast lanes including a bar and bistro this season.

Resort Manager Robin Baycroft said that parents can enjoy a hot chocolate or beers while the kids are having fun with bowling. The resort joins a skating rink, tubing park, snowshoe, sleigh rides and Nordic trails in the list of attractions.

Robin Baycroft agrees that ski resorts compete with destinations like Mexico and Silver Star with Canada’s first all-inclusive ski ticket – the my1pass. The pass ranges from $77 to $41 allows entire family to ski-snowboard hectares of Okanagan powder, access to 55 kilometers of Nordic trails, 16 kilometers of snowshoe trails, hockey/skating on mountain and tube town.

Snowmobiles are available on rent for kids and adults on the opposite side of the spectrum. Mini machines and a special course are set up next to the skating rink for the wee ones. Elders can rent a shuttle ride away of Okanagan recreational rentals.

Silver Star is an hour drive from Kelowna International Airport and a 5-1/2 hour drive from Vancouver.
